More Babies are on the Way!

And no . . . they are not coming from me.  But the pretty little momma featured below will have her first little one in the next couple of weeks and I am honored to have been able to capture some of her final moments before their family expands.

Here in the NW, we are getting ready for a heat wave!  It's about time...ha.  Not according to my husband.  But I say - bring on the sunshine!!

And don't forget to stop by A Beautiful Day, where I am guest posting for In Focus Friday!

Blogging with A Purpose

If you follow my blog consistently, it is pretty clear that it lacks a sense of direction - I'm not afraid to admit I tend to be all over the place.  Part of that is because some days, it really is hard to come up with something fun to write about.

Just this week, I saw a couple of people promoting some different programs that I considered trying to participate with in order to create that direction to some extent.  Katie over at Katie Stories posted this week about the "Find Your Voice" summer storytelling workshop.  It looks like a really great program and a lot of fun, but I'm afraid I don't quite have the time for it.  You should definitely take a look if you are interested in it.

I'm a little late in starting, but I think I am going to try the 52 Weeks of Blogging With A Purpose.  This is hosted by Becky at From Mrs. to Mama.  Becky has created a list of 20 prompts so far, one per week.  These topics are to help provide inspiration for a weekly post - that is to include photos and interpretations.  I found this project while reading one of my sponsors' recent posts, "10 Things I Live For."  Jessie, of Jessie Jo At Home, and her husband Sam have some adorable kiddos and I really enjoy her blog.

Each week, Becky is hosting a link-up to share what we have come up with for that week's prompt.  I look forward to hopefully getting to know some new bloggers via this project.

Like I said, I am a little late jumping on the wagon - Week 2's link-up was posted on Monday.  But I am ready to jump in!

Happy Birthday to the Guy Who Doesn't Wear Pants

Is my husband the only one who takes off his pants as soon as he walks in the door after work?  I'm given a hard time because I like to wear sweat pants around the house, while he is sitting there in his underwear.  So, if you stop by our house unannounced, you've been warned!  Lucky for him, I love him anyway.  And today is his 30th birthday!

In honor of his birthday, I am going to be super sappy and girly and share 30 things I love about him.

1. He makes me laugh. Everyday.
2. He is passionate about life, his friends/family and his hobbies.
3. He is probably more sentimental than I am.
4. He loves to travel as much as I do.
5. He gives really good back rubs *when he chooses to*
6. He works really hard and enjoys his job.
7. He's a great cook, but never follows a recipe - it's always his own creation.
8. He knows what kind of mood I am in before I even am fully awake in the morning.
9. He has a wonderful family who has always welcomed me with open arms.
10. He's my live-in mechanic and takes good care of my car.

11. He encourages me to be the best person I can.
12. He plays the guitar (and sings).
13. He knows how to have fun.
14. He has a great group of friends - some that even feel like family.
15. He has the hugest heart and would do anything for the people he cares about.
16. He is great with our nieces and nephews.
17. He will be a good dad someday.
18. He has a lot of dreams for our future.
19. He tells me about his crazy dreams that happen...all the time!
20. He is usually the life of the party.

21. He is the type of person who I could sit in silence with for hours, but feel like we just had a long conversation.
22. He is my teddy bear.
23. He always stands up for what he believes in.
24. He is probably one of the most honest people you will ever meet.
25. He keeps life interesting.
26. He makes me want to wake up in the morning.
27. He has pretty good fashion sense - he's even picked out my new clothes before.
28. He is a really good gift-giver *my complete opposite!*
29. He likes frozen yogurt.
30. He is my most-handsome hero.

Happy Birthday, Honey.  I love you to the moon and back
*the old one*

5 For Five

How did I do on my goals from last week??

1. Drink two bottles of water every day. 3 out of 5 days.  I did really good the first three days of the week.  Thursday I went home early sick and was sick Friday, too.  So I didn't really feel like drinking much of anything.

2. Update monthly budget. FAILED! At least this week I THOUGHT about this one.  That's one step closer...

3. Get caught up on the dirty dishes by Tuesday evening, and wash them as they are used the rest of the week. FAILED! But the good news is I did have ALL of the dishes clean as of last night...

4. Go to the gym at least three times. PASSED! We even tried out a TRX class one day - talk about intense.  I was even going to be good and get there FIVE days, but since I wasn't feeling well that didn't happen.

5. Respond to all comments received this week. PASSED! I think that, as of this morning, I have gotten back to everyone that left me comments - at least those whose emails I had.

Only TWO for five this week....how disappointing....

Goals for this week:

1. Update monthly budget. This HAS TO HAPPEN!
2. Go to gym at least three times. Maybe even try another class?
3. Drink at least 2 bottles of water each day. Gotta pass these goals before I move on...
4. Only eat HEALTH snacks in between meals. No chips :(
5. No soda. I only drank one this week, I think.

The Big Winner!

First of all, I want to thank the wonderful women who helped make this giveaway possible.  Kelley, Julie, Emily, Kalyn, and Adrienne - you guys are AMAZING!  Thank you for your contributions and support.  If any of you (or anyone else) would like for me to return the favor, please let me know!  I would be glad to.

Now - the most important part: Congratulations to Rebecca at The Crazy Redhead Photographer!!  You have won a great prize package, including:

*One 8x10 photo from My Mind's Lens (will be given a choice of prints)
*"Something More" ad space from One Southern Hot Mess (includes 175*170 in-post ad, social media shout-outs and take over Kelley's blog for a day!)
*$10 Starbucks Card from A Beautiful Day
*$10 Amazon.com Giftcard from Scattered Horizons Photography
*$10 Target Giftcard from Life As I Pretend to Know It
*Custom 8x8 scrapbook from My Memory Art (choice of theme - all you have to do is insert your photos!)

I, for one, am jealous! Rebecca has some great photos of her own - you should definitely stop by, give her some congratulations and take a look at her work.

And, because I have to post at least a couple of photos for the day, here are a few from a beach that  I have lived 15 minutes from for the majority of my life and had never been to until today!

Before you run off for your day's tasks and adventures, make sure you stop by Fueled and Aflame.  Sarah is sharing some of the details and *being the photo fanatic that I am* I just fell in love.  Her wedding looks like it was so charming and the colors are BEAUTIFUL!  So make sure you see for yourself - especially if you are looking for ideas of your own!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

It has been a while since I have done one of these!!  I love Ashley's weekly link-up at Ramblings & Photos, though, and when reading through this week's list of subjects came up with some ideas right away so I figure it is a good week to jump back in!!

Is it weird that my idea of fun is searching out local gems for photo subjects?  Well...it doesn't really matter 'cause it's MY interpretation of fun!

This is my arts/crafts/scrapbooking supplies.  I don't love this storage solution.  It's functional, but not very eye-pleasing.  I love looking at all the fancy "craft rooms" on Pinterest....maybe someday.  For today, this works.

I am slightly humiliated to be posting this photo.  But this is my kitchen before I got in there this morning to take care of it.  I don't know how the dishes are always backed up (well, I do, but we won't talk about my laziness when it comes to house cleaning).  I love having a clean house - but would rather spend my time not cleaning :)

Being able to bring a new life into the world is one of the greatest blessings in life, or so I'm told.  Maybe someday I will see for myself.  I was planning to use one of the maternity photos from the session I had scheduled for yesterday.  Unfortunately they had to cancel at the last minute, so I had to pull one from last week instead.

This girl does NOT have a green thumb.  I will never claim to love gardening or yard work.  But when I saw these flowers at the farmer's market last week I couldn't resist.  And the jalapeno plant just sounded like fun *plus, Tristan LOVES jalapenos*.  So, I am at least going to make an effort to keep these guys alive for the summer.  And if we are lucky we might even get some fresh jalapenos out if!

To join in, visit Ashley for Scavenger Hunt Sunday!
