Momma's Little Angel

"Godspeed (Sweet Dreams)"
*The Dixie Chicks*

Dragon tales and the "water is wide"
Pirate's sail and lost boys fly
Fish bite moonbeams every night
And I love you

Godspeed, little man
Sweet dreams, little man
Oh my love will fly to you each night on angels wings
Godspeed
Sweet dreams

The rocket racer's all tuckered out
Superman's in pajamas on the couch
Goodnight moon, will find the mouse
And I love you

Godspeed, little man
Sweet dreams, little man
Oh my love will fly to you each night on angels wings
Godspeed
Sweet dreams

God bless mommy and match box cars
God bless dad and thanks for the stars
God hears "Amen," wherever we are
And I love you

Godspeed, little man
Sweet dreams, little man
Oh my love will fly to you each night on angels wings
Godspeed
Godspeed
Godspeed
Sweet dreams

This last week, the day our family - my sister-in-law especially - has been waiting for for the majority of the last year finally came.  Easton James Rodriquez made his appearance on the evening of Wednesday, February 20th.  Little Man was a healthy 8 lb 4 oz and was born less than 7 hours after momma's water broke...not bad for being Momma's first!!

Karlee was thrilled to discover during the first 24 hours that she has a little cuddler on her hands!  Sadly, Daddy was flying out from Colorado and was unable to get there in time for Easton's birth, but got in a few hours later.  I tried to document his first few hours and visitors as best I could so that Gabe could experience those moments as well.

Visiting with all of the cousins....

Is he not the most precious little boy, ever?!?

A friend of Karlee's made this super cute baseball-hat.  Getting ready to meet Daddy...

Snuggling with Uncle TT

And finally....the happy family!!

Karlee and Gabe:  I am so proud of you and happy for you.  You guys have a beautiful little boy and are going to be great parents!

Now quickly, I'm gonna rewind to waiting for Easton's grand arrival - because I have to show off my super-adorable nieces, too!!

Sunday Social

Today I am grateful for a chance to do a little catching up on my blogging.  So far, I have posted the engagement pictures I shot last weekend and done a little sharing.  Still on my list to do (in between dishes and laundry!) is to post and share pictures of my new nephew, and do a little commenting!  But right now, I am linking up with Ashley at Sunday Social.  This week - we are digging into the archives!!

Sunday Social

1. What was your biggest middle school fashion mistake? Hmm...I'm not sure.  Probably wearing the foam Old Navy flip flops too much!

2. Who were your best friends in high school?  Jessica, Effie, Sam and Karlee

3. What was your typical weekend like for you in high school?  I actually worked a lot in high school.  Usually Friday and Saturday nights were either spent at work or out with friends - either at a game or going to the movies or something.  Sundays were mostly family days - church in the morning, an afternoon at home, and youth group in the evenings.  I guess I probably did some homework too :)

4. Did you have any boyfriends/girlfriends?  I dated two boys in high school - neither were good decisions.  One was a Jehovah's Witness, and since I am not, his family did not know about it.  That situation did not end well.  The other boy was a couple years older than me and turned out to be a complete jerk.  Neither relationship lasted more than a few months, fortunately.

5. Did you have any secret codes with your friends?  I don't remember ever having any secret codes.  But we would pass notes in the hallway that were folded up a special way.  I don't think I could fold it now, though, if I tried!

6. If you could relive one day/moment/experience from middle school or high school, what would it be?  High school graduation. Or prom.  Both seemed really surreal and I don't think I appreciated either as much as I should have.

I haven't really looked back at pictures from high school in awhile, so this has been fun!

One Lucky Girl

Many people consider themselves lucky to find someone special and to fall in love.  I consider myself particularly lucky, then.  Not only did I find someone special - someone who I know will always be there for me, and do anything he can to make me happy - and fall in love with him, but I continue to fall in love over and over again.  Each time, I seem to love him even more.  The lucky ones are those who find someone that they can keep falling in love with - not just once.

Over the last several weeks, I have noticed this even more.  My husband is very sentimental and is the type of person that thinks of the little things to do that make a difference.  A couple of weeks ago, I came home to find him finishing washing dishes.  Earlier this week, he cleaned the living room.  And another night had dinner waiting.  Right now, when I am working long hours, those little things mean the world.  He knows exactly what to do to help me relax, and shows me that he appreciates all the things I do.  He inspires me to seek out the little things that matter to him, as well.  I continue to be amazed by him!

My hope is that this young couple I worked with last weekend will be able to experience these things as well.  They were very sweet and excited for their 2015 wedding.

"Love is like a friendship caught on fire.  In the very beginning a flame, very pretty, often hot and fierce, but still only light and flickering.  As love grows older, our hearts mature and our love becomes as coals, deep-burning and unquenchable."
~Bruce Lee

I am so grateful to Houston & Clinton for giving me the opportunity to shoot their engagement photos.  I hope they had as much fun as I did and are able to enjoy and share these special moments.
