B&W Wednesday {Bucket List Update}

I have been looking forward to photographing these sweet girls for over a year, now. When they were first born I was hoping to do their newborn photos, but another photographer beat me to it and offered them a free session. So - when their first birthday started approaching, I made sure that I was first in line. Not only was I excited to finally take some pictures of a set of twins (one of the items on my 2013 Bucket List), but my husband and I are really good friends with their parents so it was extra special to me to have this opportunity.

1. Sunset at Seaside {The Coast}

3. Las Vegas Strip
4. A beautiful waterfall (other than Multnomah Falls)

As they get older, it is getting a little easier to tell these girls apart.  They definitely each have their own, unique personalities.  I'm looking forward to watching them continue to grow - and hopefully to more photo shoots!

Another strike off the Ol' Bucket List

In my usual style of dragging things out . . . the following is a continuation of our camping trip from a couple weeks back.  However, it is also another accomplishment when it comes to my 2013 Photography Bucket List.  I did have to tweak it a little bit...but as far as I am concerned, it still counts.

2013 PHOTOGRAPHY BUCKET LIST

1. Sunset at Seaside {The Coast}

2. Twin babies
3. Las Vegas Strip
4. A beautiful waterfall (other than Multnomah Falls)
5. 1st birthday session

When we left to go camping, I realized that it was likely going to be my last chance to catch a sunset at the beach.  Even though it wasn't in Seaside, it may as well have been.  We were only about 30 miles south and really my intent when writing the bucket list was just to get an ocean sunset - I just thought I would only have an opportunity in Seaside.

I want to start a little bit before the sunset really began.....because I love beach pictures and if you don't, I want to convince you...

Need more convincing?  'Cause I have plenty more evidence of the beauty of the ocean shores...

HERE COMES THE SUN!

I did a lot of playing around with my camera settings as the sun set . . . so some pictures are a lot darker, or have a lot more color, than others.  Which one is best?  It is all about your preference and what appeals to YOUR eye.

From the time the sun sat just above the horizon, until it sank completely out of sight, there was only a 4 minute time lapse.  It is amazing how long it can take for the sun to get to the "edge of the earth", but how quickly it disappears.

{For tips on photographing the sunrise/sunset, check out last month's In Focus Friday}

If you are out taking pictures of the sunset, make sure you stick around for a little bit once it goes down. The sky is often even more photographic after the sun is gone.

Finally, this week's B&W Wednesday:

As of 10 am (PST) I will be getting my 2 seconds of fame over at Rhyme & Ribbons, with a highlight of Amanda's sponsor for September. I was fortunate enough to win the ad space through the Aloha Blog Hop for August!

Leaves & Pumpkins . . . Fall is Coming

Earlier this week, one of my crafty blogger friends whose name is Katie {as in Katie Stories}, shared her checklist of things she plans to do this fall *see her list here*. I warned her that I would likely be copying her in the near future, and here it is - my Fall Bucket List:

As much as I love the warm, dry summer . . . I can't resist the beautiful colors of fall.  Around here, even though it was 95 degrees outside yesterday, the leaves are already beginning to change.  I guess it is time to accept the inevitable and make the best of it!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*THIS WEEK IN PHOTOS*
*My car thermometer hit 103 on Wednesday.  I am pretty sure it is off my about 5 degrees...but still. We broke the local record for September 11th by 1 degree.
*A local fire department hung this massive flag off one of their ladder trucks, out over the highway on 9/11 in remembrance.  I wish the photo better portrayed just how big it was.
*I got my first FREE copy of Popular Photography in the mail this week!  I can't remember how many I get...I want to say 6 months, though.
*Work has been a little out of control this week - getting a little bit of OT!
And.....because technically it happened within the last week, here are some more camping pics!
It's not a camping trip without some "adult beverages."  If you like the various hard ciders that have become popular in the last year or two . . . you have to try it mixed with some cinnamon whiskey.  This SinFire is a local variety, but you can also use Fireball or something else.  Also important to note - the grocery store pic in the bottom right corner was my FIRST EVER Instagram upload!
Some of my favorite pictures from the coast are still to come - I need to put a little more thought into which ones to share, though.....
To wrap up Friday and head into the weekend, I am linking up with Whitney for #backthatazzup!  The inspiration for this week's song comes from the live Taking Back Sunday concert we were watching last night on AXStv.
