Thankful Thursday

This week has flown by.  I'm afraid it is going to be 2013 before long and I won't even know how we got there!  Anyways - there is so much to be thankful for, but here are my 5 things for this week.

1. FOUR SEASONS:

In the NW, we are fortunate to actually get four distinct seasons.
I think this is something that I would
really miss if we were to ever move somewhere else.

2. HOME:

We are really fortunate that we were chosen among several applicants
to move into this house, and I have enjoyed the last couple of
weeks of making it "home".

3. FRIENDS:

I love being surrounded by friends and we have
some pretty amazing ones...

4. WARMTH:

Many people in the U.S. and around the world go to bed cold every night.  It's
a sad truth...and I am so glad that I am fortunate
to be able to go to sleep in a warm bed.

Yes...this was taken early this morning, so cut me a little slack :)

5. SECOND CHANCES:

We all make mistakes.  I'm not sure where I would be if it weren't for second chances...or third and fourth :)

Again...some of these are from my phone, and some I dug up from the past.  At any rate, you get the idea!  Please comment below and let me know what you are thankful for this week...

Colors

How beautiful has this fall been?  On the mornings that there is enough light to see, I can't help but notice all the different colors of leaves along the side of my street.  There is one tree that I pass on my way home from work in the evenings that caught my attention the last few days.  At the bottom, it still shows signs of green.  Then, there is almost a diagonal line where it switches to yellow leaves, then another diagonal to the top section that is red.  It is really beautiful, but now that the time has changed there is not enough light to take a picture after work...

I did bring my camera with me yesterday morning, though, to capture some of trees down the street before the city came to sweep the leaves away (they already did that on one street I was planning on photographing!).

Sometimes I like to play with the colors of my pictures during processing.  They may not be the original photo, but they turn out really fun.

I'd love to see some of your fall photos as well!!  If you have them posted, feel free to leave the link in a comment and I will be sure to check them out!

Thankful Thursday

Awhile back, someone challenged me to think of three things that I am grateful for every day.  For about two weeks, I wrote down these three things in a notebook as a reminder of all the wonderful things I have in my life.  Like a lot of "challenges" or "resolutions", I eventually stopped making an effort to think of these things on a regular basis.

The month of November holds the Thanksgiving holiday.  So, I want to take time over the next four weeks leading up to and including Thanksgiving to talk about some of the things I am thankful for in my life.  They are not necessarily going to come in any specific order, and while some will be serious others may be kind of silly.  None-the-less, they are all things I am thankful for.

Each week, I will post five things that I am thankful for.  There will be pictures to accompany each item and while I am going to try to take original pictures as much as possible, I may have to dig into my archives a bit for some.  Also, this week the pictures that ARE original are taken from my cell phone :)  Since we still don't have internet at home yet I have no way to upload new pictures from my camera.  So, there is going to be a bit of a mix!

1. MY MORNING COFFEE:

I may be a borderline coffee addict (I think that's what it is when you get
headaches from not having coffee on a daily basis!).

2. TRISTAN:

Every relationship has its ups and downs - but this guy makes my world go
around.  Not only is he pretty good looking ;), but he makes
me laugh, is encouraging and supportive and knows me probably better than I do.
We have come a long ways together
and I don't know where I would be without him!

3. MY CAR:

Yes - I am thankful that I can have a decent car that I actually like and
is dependable.

4. LIVING CLOSE TO THE OCEAN:

I have said it before, but the coast is my safe haven.  That is the place I turn to
when I need a bit of peace, quiet and serenity, or just to
get away for a couple of days.

5. FAMILY

Admiring our newest niece, Tealyn, just hours after she was born last
spring.  She's just as cute as her two older sisters.

5 down, 15 more to come!!  Stay tuned...
