A Day Date at the Coast (Part 4)

I PROMISE to wrap up last weekend's adventures today.  Our last stop at Fort Steven's was at Battery Russell.  Battery Russell is one of 8 batteries that made up the former military base.  It is a concrete fortress built into the earth, housing heavy artillery to protect the mouth of the Columbia.  Today - it is only a concrete shell, but really neat to walk around.  You might need a flashlight if you want to go inside, though.
